This will be the second time that we will be bringing the Insurance & Financial Services Summit to the African market to highlight the importance of insurance in economic development of African countries. The West & Central Africa experiences low penetration rate, however the growth potential remains robust!
West & Central Africa Insurance and Financial Services Summit 2009 will look at the theme of new developments in micro insurance, life & non-life insurance, pension funds, bancassurance, health insurance, rural finance, reinsurance, specialty insurance for marine, aviation, project finance and oil & gas industry as well as Islamic insurance (Takaful).The gathering will offer a serious two-day intensive platform for interaction, exchange of ideas, learning from successful models, and finding common solutions to current strategic challenges as well as boosting greater interaction and co-operation between the Asia and Europe insurers and reinsurers and their counterparts in Africa. At the Summit the delegates will learn from insurance developments in Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and other countries, find out how to increase capacity, content and efficiency of the local market, review the imperatives of proper risk management, as well understand how strong legislation can strengthen the financial capacity of insurance companies and banks and support the corporate governance. At the top of it, the Summit will explore the possible ways of improvement of distribution channels and new developments in information technology serving insurance and banking sector.
