On behalf of the Government of Cote d'Ivoire, we warmly invite you to The 1st West Africa Mining & Energy Summit to be held from 17 to 20 November 2008 in Yamoussoukro, capital of Cote d'Ivoire.

Many oil & gas companies and investors are excited about the newly discovered huge potential in this often ignored corner of West African Coast. This Summit seeks to bring together all key energy upstream/midstream/downstream/refinery/power/renewables and mining players from Africa, Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East to deliberate on the emerging opportunities in energy and mining in West Africa, its challenges, possible joint venture cooperation openings, new concessions and project opportunities, and the benefits from these efforts to promote growth, peace and sustainable development in emerging Africa.

The President and Minister of Mines & Energy of Cote d’Ivoire will deliver the host keynote addresses at this Summit, and are looking forward to welcome you at this important summit.

Many key energy & mining government officials, national oil and mining companies, bankers, investors, technical experts from Africa including Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, Niger, Burundi, Togo, Guinea-Bissau, Malawi, Mozambique, many other African states, USA, UK, France, Norway, China, India, Korea, UAE, amongst many countries, are expected to participate at this summit.

This Summit will offer all investors a unique vantage point into the current outlook, opportunities and challenges facing the West Africa energy & mining sectors. Interesting issues including assessing new reserves, fulfilling commercial expectations, new licensing rounds, future gas developments, new refining projects & oil storage and distribution, developments in the region’s electricity interconnect, gas to power developments, affordable use of renewable as alternative energy for the poor, non food crops feedstock such as Jatropha, new mining projects & managing the impact of oil price hike will be discussed.

In addition to participation by the top African players, top executives of the world’s oil and gas companies, equipment providers, technology innovators, banks, insurers, private equity investors will also gather at this Summit, truly, the single platform where the world’s regulators, buyers and sellers in the energy & mining sectors could meet! To facilitate smooth participation, the proceedings will be conducted in both French and English.
